I had to have a cervical fusion. As a health care professional I am extremely cautious about who gets close to my spinal cord with a sharp implement. I spend 3 months doing research, talking with other health care professionals, patients, and with other ancillary staff. Dr. Gutierrez was far and away the best surgeon in a 250 mile area for my procedure. I had my surgery, stayed overnight in the local hospital (at my request for 24 hours IV antibiotic therapy as the infection rate at the local hospital is not the best) and was OUT of my cervical collar in 3 weeks without any residual pain, numbness or other symptoms of my pre-operative condition. Five years down he road, I am still symptom free.
