Services
At Darrington Family Dental we provide our patients with a variety of services to protect, maintain, and improve their oral health.
Diagnostic Services
To determine the current level of your oral health we will do a comprehensive examination including an oral cancer screening, evaluating the health of the gums and bone around the teeth, an examination of the teeth, and digital x-rays.
Preventative Dentistry
There are now several ways to prevent almost all dental problems before they start. Cavities can be prevented with Remineralization Techniques, Sealants, and good Hygiene. Cracked and severely worn teeth can be prevented with the use of a Nightguard, while a custom made Athletic Mouthguard can prevent dental injuries from sports. Even many orthodontic problems may be prevented if treated early enough, saving thousands of dollars, and many trips to the orthodontist.
Restorative Dentistry
Once a tooth has a defect, it must be restored to stop the disease and restore function. At Darrington Family Dental we do not use any “mercury fillings,” rather we use a tooth-colored composite for direct Fillings. Sometimes the defect is large enough that a stronger, laboratory processed restoration such as a Crown, also known as a cap, is needed. Bridges can be used to replace missing teeth as an alternative to a removable appliance. The latest and greatest way to replace missing teeth however is with Implants, a prosthetic tooth root placed by a specialist, which we then build a tooth onto.
Periodontal Therapy
The periodontal tissues (the gums and bones surrounding teeth) act as the foundation for the teeth. In order to keep these tissues healthy we provide a full range of professional cleanings so that you receive the treatment you need. We will also provide you with tips and tricks to help keep your mouth clean and healthy between dental visits.
Dr. Johnstun has also been trained in the “Perio Protect Method.” This technique utilizes a custom fabricated device to deliver medications deep down into the pockets of the gums around the teeth to break up calculus and destroy the bacteria which cause periodontal disease.
Esthetic Dentistry
We offer a variety of treatments to improve the appearance of your smile including Tooth –Colored Fillings, Full Porcelain Crowns, Veneers, Tooth Whitening, and a variety of Orthodontic options.
Orthodontics
We offer three orthodontic options:
Orthotain uses preformed appliances to help guide teeth into their ideal locations. It works best as the permanent teeth are coming in, but in some circumstances can be used even on teeth that have been in the mouth for a long period of time.
"Six Month Smiles" nearly invisible braces that can be used to move teeth into a pleasant looking smile, in an average time of only 6 months.
Invisalign utilizes a series a clear plastic trays to move the teeth into position.
Mini Dental Implants
Implants can be placed in the mouth to help secure dentures and partial dentures into position.
We also perform Root Canal Therapy when necessary in order to save a tooth, and when a tooth is unrestorable, we perform Extractions.
