If you need a gastroenterologist/internist FOR ANY REASON DR. PIPER BIGELOW IS ABSOLUTELY WHO YOU SHOULD CHOOSE ABOVE ALL OTHERS IN THE TWIN CITIES, BAR NONE! I have had lifelong severe Crohn's disease with many surgeries, years on meds etc. But I had neglected my Crohn's healthcare due to issues at "the well known gastroenterologist clinic" in Twin Cities who I'd seen over last 30 years. With insurance changes and the recommendation of an Allina Rheumatologist I had seen, I went to Allina/Regina Hospital and Dr. Bigelow. I had EXTREME fears to have a much needed colonoscopy due to trauma/PTSD part of which involved that "other" clinic and those fears had kept me from having a colonoscopy since 2004,unheard of with severe Crohn's. The entire staff, from check-in, to the "escort" to the day surgery area and in particular the nurses at Regina Hospital WERE AMAZING...kind and professional does not even begin to describe them and the quality of personalized care I received. BUT, DR. PIPER BIGELOW was like a "GIFT" to me! I had never experience someone taking such time to get to know me, understand my fears, make me feel safe and comfortable, making sure all my questions and worries were answered and addressed and that I was truly ok to proceed with the procedure before even beginning. Her direct and truly kind eye contact, her real "hearing" of what I had to say, not just "listening" was amazing! I felt cared about and truly safe with this doctor and finally could address my long neglected Crohn's healthcare. My first office visit was after the procedure, which is not the norm, yes, but I was in a crisis with my Crohn's and the what of that needed to be known ASAP. At that visit Dr. Bigelow went above and beyond,( which now I believe is what she would do for any patient), she had my office visit after the procedure put at the end of her day, purposely to have "all the time I needed" and I am sure, she as well, to discuss all we needed to address. It was a VERY long appointment. I never felt in any way she was rushed, in fact just the opposite. Her personal approach to me, which I believe she intuitively knew is what I needed, was remarkable and yet her TOTAL PROFESSIONALISM, and medical knowledge was 100% TOP OF THE LINE... which of course, is a must for all seeking a gastroenterologis/internist. Just like the staff at Regina, every single person at Dr. Bigelow's 1st Street clinic in Hastings were the most amazing people! Have you EVER been in a clinic where every single individual from the receptionist, to a nurse you ask directions from, to the LPN's/nurses working with the doctor,to the scheduling staff...where every single person was friendly, never rushing you, and made you feel important? Well, I have never experienced that before anywhere! Her staff, like Dr. Bigelow are 100% aces!. And Dr. Piper Bigelow, needless to say, she will be the only gastroenterologist/internist I ever see again...I RECCOMMEND HER 100% and then some...THERE IS NO BETTER THAN DR. PIPER BIGELOW, I can confidently say, and in over 50 years of battling severe Crohn's and seeing gastroenterologists in 3 states, having had 6 surgeries, I know of what I speak...DR. PIPER BIGELOW IS TOP NOTCH! GO TO HER!
