My tonsils need TLC so I have been to this clinic, part of Beth Israel Deaconess. Vernick is partners with Harsha Gopal, who has the sure touch of a good surgeon, and David Caradonna.

The way the office is run borders on the abusive. A dictatorial office manager speaks to patients as if they were idiots. A receptionist would not let me use her pen, and when I asked why, she told me "Maybe it's your tone."

Worst of all, when it was finally established that I had bacterial pharyngitis, it was the dictatorial *office manager* who informed me of the diagnosis, and said, "Okay, now we need your pharmacy's number so we can call something in for you." "We"? "Something"? I don't know about you, but I'm accustomed to having a *medical doctor* inform me of my diagnosis and treatment plan, and consult with me about antibiotics--I'm allergic to some, and some work better than others for the tonsillitis I get. Why should I discuss this with the same person who compiles the office personnel manual? I'm never going back.
