Overdentures
Sherwood Dental Care
If you are missing teeth and need a denture or if you are all too familiar with the discomfort and inconvenience of loose-fitting dentures, an implant overdenture may be right for you.
Dr. Collins has helped a number of patients who come in with loose-fitting dentures. Two or more dental implants are used to anchor the denture in place. The more implants that are used, the more stability can be achieved.
Mini implants are more affordable than standard dental implants and can also be used to stabilize your denture. The standard insertion protocol we use for mini dental implants calls for four implants to be gently screwed into the front of a patient’s lower jaw.
This is a relatively painless procedure that can be performed by Dr. Collins and requires only a mild anesthesia. The mini dental implants, which are approximately the size of wooden toothpicks, are placed about five millimeters apart in the patient’s mandible. The overdenture is then carefully adjusted to allow it to snap onto the four mini implants.
