I saw Dr. Hogan because she had treated other members of my family, and she had done a good job. However, when I saw her due to my PCP's concern that I had Endometriosis she thought some of the symptoms of my disease were likely unrelated (gastrointestinal, leg pain), did not recommend laproscopy, downplayed the potential diagnosis and prescribed BC. After 3 months the medication stopped working properly I had uncontrolled bleeding for a month. I had an emergency appt with Dr. Hogan due to the pain, bleeding, and potential blood clot, and it was bumped to another doctor. When I spoke with her on the phone about it same day because I felt my concerns had not been addressed she sounded irritated and would not provide her own opinion, and told me to stop the medication if I thought I should. The staff in her office made matters worse, scheduling me for appointments I didn't make, and when I would go to reschedule not offering anything until 3 weeks later. Meanwhile I was in excruciating and unprecedented pain with no answers. My PCP was livid and thankfully quickly got me in with another doctor. A month later I had surgery and was diagnosed with Stage 3 Endometriosis, all my symptoms were related and in fact my bowel was being pulled out of place by scar tissue which could have occurred or worsened during my one month of non stop bleeding. My current doctor confirms that my leg pain and gastrointestinal issues are related to my disease. Due to the scar tissue without surgery my pain would not have improved. Dr. Hogan may be a good doctor for the basic well woman visit, but completely dismissed key symptoms, and her "conservative approach" and talking me out of my instincts cost me a month and a half of unnecessary agony. Considering my disease effects 10% of women of reproductive age, she should have known better.

It has been several years but, I remember thinking that she was very good. I moved but, I'm back.
