If I could give less than 1 star I would. Dr Parra nearly killed me. This was years ago, 2006 or so. At LSU I had serious right upper quadrant pain on a Tuesday. I went to class then I went to the student health center. She palpated my stomach, did a sonogram, gave me a prescription for 10 oxycodone, sent me home with no diagnosis. Thursday I went back to class but I couldn’t stand up straight because I was in excruciating pain, diaphoretic, I thought I was dying. Went back to health clinic, dr parrra said she could find nothing wrong and she wasn’t giving me anymore pills. I told her, “I don’t want your F***ing pain pills, I want you to give me a diagnosis!” She didn’t. She said I should go to the ER if “You’re just looking for pills.” So I went to the ER at Earl K Long and within 30 minutes, I was in surgery for a ruptured appendix. I had a fever of 103F. The surgeon said if I had waited for the weekend, I would be dead. I doesn’t 7 days in the hospital on IV antibiotics bc Dr Parra lacks the skill to diagnose a very common, very serious ailment. Plus she’s incredibly judgmental and professionally lazy since it’s easier to accuse someone of being a drug addict (with absolutely ZERO evidence) than it is to perform an accurate diagnostic exam. I should’ve sued her for malpractice then. I was discouraged from that course of action by the Health Center director.
