Dealing with Dr. Patel has been an extremely painful and expensive nightmare. He was mean and rough and I had to endure a huge amount of unnecessary pain because of his horrible treatment. I went to check out Alafaya Dental Associates because I was looking for a high quality crown with no metal parts and the crowns they offered, Bruxers, sounded like they would be really nice. The dentist I saw for a consultation was a very nice woman who explained everything very well and made me feel she would do a good job. They told me if I wanted to have her do the crown I needed for my tooth, I would have to wait weeks and I couldn’t because I was in pain and afraid to wait and have it get worse, so I reluctantly agreed to see Dr. Patel even though I hadn’t met him yet. I have a crown on another tooth that I don’t like because it has metal in it but that fits perfectly comfortably and has never caused any pain at all.

The tooth that Dr. Patel had made for me was HUGE and didn’t remotely fit. He filed a strange bowl shaped hole from the middle lower than my other teeth and left pointy ridges all around. He didn’t care when I told him it was painful and refused to do anything to fix it. I couldn’t close my mouth right because of the sharp pointy ridges, and the huge bulbous outer edge that went far past the rest of my teeth, pressed on my cheek sending shooting pains up my face and giving me a horrible headache. I was in horrible constant pain for almost a week as I begged them to help me. I saw Dr. Patel 2 days after the crown was put on for help in relieving the extreme pain and he was reluctant to do anything at all and would barely file it.

I told him I was in horrible pain and couldn’t eat, sleep, or do much of anything because of how much the huge crown was hurting me. He told me to get used to it. After a couple more days of horrible suffering I went in and had to refuse to leave until someone else helped me since Dr. Patel wasn’t there and they didn’t want to let me see anyone else even though I had a terrible experience with Dr. Patel. The other dentist helped a lot and made the pain a lot more bearable but wouldn’t finish because she didn’t really want to work on something another dentist had done. I finally had to pay a dentist at another office to file the tooth down so it didn’t hurt. It is so misshapen and horrible and I am so mad I wasted so much money getting ripped off for something that caused me so much pain and that I am going to have redone as soon as I can by someone who cares what they’re doing.

I think Alafaya Dental Associates has deliberate deceitful sales practices. I went in to have a molar removed because I was in extreme pain. They offered a dental examination to determine if an extraction was needed. After the examination they determined my number 18 tooth (back left molar) had a cavity and was infected. The recommendation was a course of action of over $5000! I had to refuse this treatment twice before they told me they do not do molar extractions! I think they purposely deceived me by not telling me upfront they do not do molar extractions so they could sell me a dental package of over $5000.
