Dr. Victoria Nichols and her assisted team of nurses failed to inform me that my baby and I were involved in a labor/delivery trauma, as a direct result of failure to provide Cesarean intervention due to prolonged labor of 44 hours, counting from the time contractions were 3 minutes apart. I had a high risk pregnancy due to diagnosis of gestational diabetes at 6 months. Labor contractions were unbearable throughout prolonged labor. Pitocin was given intravenously in two separate bags throughout labor process. Victoria Nichols was NOT present to deliver my baby immediately after the nurse determined I had dilated 10 centimeters. I was told that I can not push and must wait for the doctor to arrive at the hospital. My child suffered baseline tachycardia of 180 to 190 beats for 3 hours, was born bluish-gray, floppy, caput succedaneum, low apgar scores, sustained ankle clonus 20 to 30 beats, irritable, hypoglycemia (22mg), jittery, unable to feed from breast for a while, high pitch crying, twitching in right foot upon touching or handling him. The problem with involuntary twitching of my son's right foot persist 12 years later, but only during sleep. I suffered from postpartum cardiomyleopathy and readmitted to cardiac floor for 4 days after being released from the original hospital stay. Unfortunately, my only child suffered damage to his central nervous system and continue to experience numerous challenges with deficits in initiation, planning, executive functions, short term memory, forgetful, headaches, involuntary twitching in sleep only, blurry vision, asthma, mood swings, abdominal complaints, flat feet, balance problems and cognitive delays. It was and has been an egregious experience to learn that my son will require long term medical care and permanent challenges resulting from hypoglycemia brain injury, heart irregularities, and substandard medical care. The most egregious part of this journey is learning that the medical trauma was concealed with intent. How do you rate a negligent doctor? For me, I rate this doctor with a zero. However, the survey require at least one star be selected.
