A one minute (or less) view up the nose is coded as surgery for $343.00, and it was not even with an actual medical doctor, in my case, it was a Physician's Assistant (PA). No one informed me that I was having a surgical procedure. And the less than 10-minute office consultation, was coded as a 40-minute consultation to gather detailed parient history for $195....again, by the PA. The only thing that lasted 40 minutes or more was the wait to see the Physician's Assistant, but that was 90 minutes, not 40. And when not paid in 30 days, they charged 15% interest. And when I called the Billing Department to ask about it, they said the Billing Manager would call back and she never did. As I have now read about others' stories on various websites, my experience with this practice is not unique. I just wish I had read those posts before making the appointment.

I found it truly ironic when I looked at an actual bill for "real" surgery, oral surgery at a respectable practice--the 20-30 minute consultation with the Oral Surgeon (not the assistant) was $70, and had three permanent teeth extracted for a cost similar to the cost of the 1-minute look up the nose. How can the Ear Nose and Throat community or the AMA or the insurance companies, allow this code to be used in this way?

All a show! BEWARE! Makes $$ off of sending patients to infectious disease doc in same building. OVERCHARGES! Quick to do surgery! Gallups performed my sinus surgery and I have been WORSE! New ENT said he did a horrible job and I have a ton of scar tissue. Also, ENT said Gallups has a BAD reputation among other docs. I wish I knew then what I know now!
