I'm 78 now but, when I was 34, Dr. Martone moved to Charlotte, NC, upstairs from my family doctor. I was having major female problems but it was impossible to get an immediate appt with a Gynecologist. My family doctor's nurse called and told me there was a new OBGYN that had just moved into their building from out of state. I called and got an immediate appt. She said I needed a hysterectomy and I didn't argue because I was miserable and had never planned on having children anyway.

I was overweight in my youth so I had an severe overhang of my stomach even though I was quite thin. My insurance fully covered the hysterectomy, but Dr. Martone offered a tummy tuck for only $500! I, foolishly, never questioned her qualifications to do that surgery. Nearly 7 months passed after the surgery and I still looked like I had a basketball in my stomach. She kept telling me it was only swelling but I had my doubts. I set up a consultation with a plastic surgeon who told me that a tummy tuck is done in an incision from thigh to thigh, about 16" long. Dr. Martone did it in a 5" incision meant only for a hysterectomy! I went back to her and her response was "I don't know what you're complaining about. I took it off your bill"!!!! This woman ruined my body and all I wanted from her was to pay a plastic surgeon to repair the damage she caused! When she refused, I hired an attorney. The next thing I knew, my family doctor's nurse called and told me that, under the cover of darkness and the weekend, Dr. Martone had packed up her entire office and skipped town!

I never had the money to repair the damage this woman did to me! I also found out how many other cities she had practiced in, only to suddenly leave. I wonder just how many botched tummy tucks she got paid to do and how many times she skipped town! All I ever wanted from her was just to pay a plastic surgeon to repair the damage, which wasn't that expensive back then but nothing I could afford. If she had done that, I never would have hired an attorney.

I'm 78 now and still have that ugly 'basketball' in my stomach. Over the years, it has put weight on my back/spine and forced me to be on medication for pain and under a doctor's care. I'm 5'5" and weigh 125 but I have always looked pregnant. Dr. Martone's own operating room notes, which I have to this day, describe me as a 34 yr old female WITH A FLAT STOMACH! What she did to me has caused bouts of depression over the years. I have never been able to afford to repair this damage on my own.

This is the first time I've been able to find anything online about her. I guess that's because I stopped looking a long time ago until just recently. I realize it's entirely too late but I want to warn any woman she may offer a cheap 'tummy tuck' to. They should run like hell! She's not qualified in any way, shape, or form which I was told by, not just by a plastic surgeon, but by 2 different OBGYNs! The latter told me that a tummy tuck was never a part of their training and that this woman was not qualified and had no right to do what she did to me!
