Let me start at the beginning: going back to October 09 I started to have chest pain while taking my daily 45 min walk in the park. The heaviness in my chest and then later on the feeling like someone was choking me brought me to my Primary Dr (one Jack Kammerman in North Miami, FL)
His diagnosis was acid reflux. November brought me back to my Primary Dr once again with the same complaint, only now the pain was more pronounced and the ”someone choking me” sensation was much worse. It had gotten to the point that when I started my daily walk (which averaged 1.5 miles in 45 minutes) these sensations came over me and I had to stop, rest and make my way back home.
I was quickly limited to living on my sofa, Movement of any kind brought on this pain. I was in complete and utter denial! I did not want to believe that I had a problem.
December 3 brought me back to my Primary Care (Medicare) Physician, Dr Jack Kamerman of North Miami, FL. Once more I advised him about these pains and problems. Once again he said it was Acid reflux and wrote me 2 additional prescriptions. At this time I said to him, Doc! I do not believe this is Acid Refulx, something else is going on here and I think we need to look further into it. His reply to me was, “Does it say MD after your name?
At this point I lost my temper and left his office. I went home from the Drs. Office and started calling Insurance Companies. I found one that did not require me to get a referral to see a Specialist. On Dec 4 , I signed with that company. It did not take effect until Jan 1, ’10. Finally Jan 4th and my appointment with the Cardiologist. He scheduled me 2 days later for a Thallium Stress Test. On Jan 6, I started the Thallium stress test, injecting dye into veins to see if there are blockages etc while under stress of physical activity. My heart rate got up to 90 beats per minute before the test was abruptly stopped as the pain in my chest started once again.
He sent me to the Emergency Room at Aventura Hosp as this was the only way to circumvent getting prior approval from the Insurance Company (Medicare Government run Health Care). I was in the Emergency Room for about less than 1 minute before I was admitted as a patient to the hospital. What they did find was a failing aortic valve that was working at 50%. My blood was not being oxygenated enough and my heart was incapable of overcoming it without possibly failing. In other words I was in trouble.
Let me at this point tell you all what the Doctors in the hospital said directly to me in regard to my Primary Doctor. Their words and NOT mine. “Your Primary Doctor receives a bonus from the Insurance Company for not sending you to see a Specialist thereby saving them money. He had only to wait the month of December to receive that bonus”
Well, he did get his bonus almost at the cost of my life. When I went to my first appointment with my Cardiologist (After my open heart surgery) he said he was amazed to see me as he felt I would not make it to the hospital in time for the operation. His words, You are a perfect example of the worst and best of our Health Care System. The worst being your Primary Dr and Medicare and the best being your care after you finally were able to see a Specialist for proper care!”
This doctor is the worst I've ever met in my life. He was very disrespectful and rude. He yelled at me for not walking fast enough and told me that he didn't have time I'm not his only patient. I went inside the room and as we were talking his black nurse came to tell him something and when she left, he said "I hate working with black people and if I had a choice I never would. Black people are stupid and I should fire her". He is a racist doctor in the middle of North Miami, FL Wowwwwwwww. I am a white woman so I guess he thought I would agree, but, I totally disapprove at this day in age there should no racism. As he examined me he was very very rough and had no gentleness at all. Everything he did was rushed and he acted as if he didn't care about me. Every patient that he had in his waiting room complained that they were thinking of changing doctors, because he was never nice to them. I would never send anyone to this doctor and if it was up to me, he should lose his license. Anyone who says that this is a good doctor is definitely lying. Both of my parents are surgeons and they would never treat a patient so bad. DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR IT WOULD BE ONE OF THE WORST MISTAKES EVER!!!!
