Dr. Ismail was the appointed doctor for my Dad while he was in the hospital in Bonifay, FL. The only time we saw this doctor was during the initial admittance. He failed to show for over 30 hours since the admittance!! Yes, 30 Hours!!! My family and I were irritated at first with the staff because they were not nice to us every time we would ask if the doctor was in. They were always very short with us. Then we realized they have been putting up with this doctor for a long time and had to always dodge the families of patients when asked where the doctor was. We were trying to be patient, but my Dad was in ICU and no one knew where the doctor was! This is unacceptable! We knew that by law he had to show up during a 24hr period so at 24hrs and 5 minutes we called.....no doctor had been in. When the nurse finally reached the doctor he told her he forgot he had a patient!! When we arrived at 8am, Dr. Ismail told the nurse to tell us he would be in at 2:30pm!!! I'm sorry, but it were me I would have felt terrible and would have gotten there right away. He simply did not care. At that point we demanded a new doctor. The nurse told us this has happened before! I find it hard to believe that this kind of doctor can hold a license. I feel bad for the people of Bonifay and surrounding areas that they are in the care of this horrible person. He's not just a bad doctor...he is a bad person. The staff seemed like they were extremely irritated to be at work, and that they couldn't wait for me to leave. They didn't seem to want to help anyone. We figured out real quick that their morale was down because they have to work with such an uncaring doctor. They have to take the brunt of Dr. Ismail's doings. I assure you....we will NEVER take any family member or person we care about to the hospital in Bonifay, FL! It is worth driving farther to Panama City or Dothan to get the care you deserve!!!
