I saw Dr. Evans in 1992. My C5 cervical vertebrae had ruptured into my spinal column. He didn't do a MRI for 11 months. Then when he finally did the MRI, he saw the ruptured disc. He scheduled surgery and one hour prior to surgery said he had decided to put a Titanium Plate in my neck for stability. I trusted him, thinking he must know what would help the most. Post operatively I could not move my neck. He had put the plate in that was too big, it impinged on the vertebrae above and below. I had no Range of Motion for four years, while he continued telling me it was all in my head. Then I found a doctor in another county, Los Angeles who informed me that a one level fusion never uses a plate. Plating is for multiple level fusions. This Surgeon was a spinal specialist named Dr. Robert Watkins. He informed me the plating was too large, should never had been installed in my neck because it was a one level fusion and needed to be removed to regain my range of motion in my neck. I found a spinal specialist, Dr. Neil White who removed the plating in the county I lived...and it took a year of physical therapy to regain the range of motion due to the adhesions from four years of the plate in my neck. It was the worst pain during those four years plus another to get the ROM back. Dr. Ewald never apologized or acknowledged what he did. He was an awful doctor who doesn't care about his patients, and I would never recommend any go to him.

Dr Ewald opersted on both of my legs in 1975 when NO other surgeon would even attempt the operation. If it was not for Dr Ewalds brilliance and generousity I would not have spent the last 40 yrs of my life walking.
