They have a very good professional reputation. I know that I'm under the care of an expert. Every time I come here they always remember me by name and greet me as soon as I walk in the door, even if it's been months since my last appointment. They were easy to reach in an emergency. When I called they answered right away and I was so relieved to hear a friendly voice. They've stayed open past their closing times many times when I've needed help. They've never turned me away when I've needed them.

The above is pretty much the review my late wife would have given. I went with her to every treatment and, yes, the waiting room was usually crowded and we had to wait, sometimes over an hour. But, I don't think you'll find anyone better under the circumstances. Most Oncologst don't want to take the high risk cases. Dr. Plotkin will take any case. I believe he provides a necessary service. I have talked to him many times and always came away with the feeling that he was very knowledgeable and professional in the field of oncology. He always answered every question of mine to my satisfaction, even though, I did not always want to hear what he said. I disagree with the previous review in that it seemed to me he was always thoughtful in his answers, however, honest the answer needed to be.

Dr. Plotkin likes to keep patients waiting, for as long as 2 hours or more beyond their appointment time. Other patients in the waiting room confirmed this as their standard experience as well.
But all of that matters little compared to the doctor himself. Do not expect Dr. Plotkin to do his best for you. When presented with my mother's rare cancer, he simply told her that she had lived long enough, and she should have a stiff upper lip. (and so we were to assume that she should get ready to die?!) When we mentioned our interest in seeing other oncologists who specialise in this rare cancer, he became defensive and said "you won't find anyone as good as me" and "how old is that other doctor?"
It seemed he was more interested in our unquestioning compliance, than in our active participation in my mother's treatment.
Needless to say, we have dropped him, and are now with other more compassionate and knowledgable doctors elsewhere, who believe that my mother can be treated.
This doctor wasted valuable time that could have been spent treating my mother's cancer.
