I am an RN who had a back injury at work. I was sent to Dr. Goldfarb because of two herniated discs in my lower back that cause pain down my left leg. Because my MRI showed that I "should" be having pain down the right leg instead, Dr. Goldfarb was very dismissive of my symptoms that I explained I was experiencing down my left leg. I repeatedly explained that I did not have pain in my right leg, only the left leg, although the MRI showed the right L3 nerve root was being impinged upon. He wanted me to see a therapist for counseling because my symptoms did not agree with the MRI. Also, Dr. Goldfarb did a rather basic neuro exam and when I got my records, I found that he recorded that he had done an extensive physical exam. In my opinion, he falsified my medical records. The opinion that he relayed back to my employee health doctor was that I did not "need" the EMG that had been ordered by my employee health doctor. Yet, later he ordered an EMG and wanted it done in his own office. I believe he did this only for monetary reasons (to keep the money within his practice, since the first EMG had been scheduled with another neurophysiologist in Tucson). The EMG in Dr. Goldfarb's office was performed by Dr. Benenati. While she had a much better bedside manner than Dr. Goldfarb (who, by the way, graduated his neurology residency the year I was born-1967), the test was nothing short of torture. I was in the bed for two days due to muscle cramping and pain in both legs. As my pain continues down my left leg and I have definite neurological deficits in my left leg on exam by my employee health doctor, he referred me for another EMG to be done with the original physician that he had referred me to before Dr. Goldfarb interfered. Although I was extremely anxious about going for this test, I did it because I want to get better and get back to work. I had the test today and I can tell you that it was slightly uncomfortable, but NOTHING like the torture that I experienced previously. PLEASE NEVER GO TO DR. GOLDFARB OR HAVE AN EMG/NCV STUDY AT HIS OFFICE!!! This test does not have to hurt you. It can be performed by a professional who is board certified in neurophysiology and, while there will be minimal discomfort, there is no pain associated with this test! Dr. Goldfarb needs to retire! He does not listen and makes up his mind that you are there to see him because you want to have surgery, even if you repeatedly state that you want conservative measures only. He is condescending and dismissive. I can only surmise by his continuing to practice at his age and also by cancelling my first EMG and then rescheduling it in HIS office that he is continuing to work only because of money. He definitely isn't still working at his age because he likes to help patients. Please, please, go to Dr. Harvey Goodman for EMG testing and steer very clear of Dr. Goldfarb.
The office was very easy to locate. I didn't have any trouble finding it at all. Just as a side note, I was very impressed with how conveniently located this business was and how close it was to other shopping centers. It was so easy to find, I didn't have any trouble at all. I felt that they really valued my health and happiness because they followed up even after my appointment just to check up on me. It was such a nice gesture that made a huge difference. I was so impressed with the progress I was able to make after visiting them. All my questions were answered, and I feel a lot more confident and hopeful about the future. They really go above and beyond to make me feel special. I've never been anywhere that seems to care more about their clients than here.
