In the early 80's I was involved in a motorcycle accident that almost
cost me my left foot just above the ankle. My leg had been crushed between the car bumper & the engine case of my bike resulting a
thickness of approximately 3/4".
The doctors at the 1st hospital I was taken to advised me that the damage was so extensive that my foot would have to be amputated.
At that point my family rallied to fine an alternative.
After much research it was determined that Dr. Stein was (is) the best choice. I still have both feet & can still ride & ski with the best of them.
He is more than a doctor, he is an artist & an innovator not afraid to
try new ideas & techniques. Because of a predisposition to arthritis
he developed a plan to repair my leg without the use of any metal.
To accomplish this I was in a cast from toes to hip for 3 months
followed by a knee high cast for 3 more. When the casts came off it
was into a custom formed leg brace for a minimum of 3 months or
longer as needed for security. That is a testament as to how badly
damaged my leg & foot were.
I saw others in my course of recovery that were treated with the same
tenacity for the best individualized treatment possible. I will be forever
grateful for the ability to lead a fully normal life due to this man.
Over the years I have recommended Dr. Stein to many people so that
they can also receive the best possible care. I will be forever grateful
for the intense care & concern that he provided.
I write this after seeing you on KTVK this past Father's Day. Best
wishes & much success on your new book.
