I am a wheechair-bound paraplegic. I broke my ankle in two places when a muscle spasm threw me out of my wheelchair. Months later, when the ankle had healed, I reinjured it when my foot got caught in the footplate of my chair. I went to an urgent care center, where I was told that I had multiple new breaks and that I should see an orthopedist. When I went to Dr. Benner, he told me that I had no broken bones and he accused me of going to see him for the purpose of getting a prescription for painkillers. He rudely waved some papers in my face and slammed out of the examining room. He did not return, nor did any member of his staff, and I was left to see myself out. "Do no harm"? I wonder if Dr. Benner avoided taking the Hippocratic Oath.
