I went to Dr. Williams to get my wisdom teeth removed and I am stunned at the horrific way I was treated. I had originally planned to undergo the procedure with Novocain and nitrous oxide, as IV sedation made me very nervous and wasn't something I felt was necessary for the procedure, considering I have a condition that affects my blood sugar, and didn't want to risk nausea after the surgery so I could get my sugar levels back up. Before Dr. Williams entered the room, I was discussing my feeling about IV sedation with one of my nurses, who was really great and understanding, but as soon as Dr. Williams walked in the room and saw I was nervous, he instantly made me feel even worse. After I explained to him why I didn't want the sedation, he sarcastically told me I could either just let him do his job, or I could leave. At this point my nurse cut in, saying I did have other options, like rescheduling and having a mild sedative pill I could take to be more relaxed before the procedure. I asked to speak to my mother alone for a moment, and Dr. Williams turned to the both of us and said to, "Hurry up, I don't have all day for you to decide."

After talking with my mom and one of the nurses who promised she could keep the sedation very light so I was still awake and would be less likely to feel sick afterward. After dismissing my questions about what was going to happen with child-like explanations, Dr. Williams began the extraction. Everything was fine until he started to drill at one of my teeth and I could still feel a great deal of pain. I held up a hand and did my best to say "ow" but Dr. Williams told me to stop talking and kept working. Obviously, drilling a tooth that is not completely numbed is very painful, so I tried harder to let him know I could feel it, and since I was on drugs, it quickly went from my holding up a hand for him to stop to me screaming. He had me restrained by three nurses and continued to work until I was screaming and kicking so much, one of the nurses finally stopped him and gave me another shot.

I left the office very scared and upset, and a truly hope no one ever has to go through such a horrific and painful experience with something as easily remedied as this would have been had Dr. Williams cared for one moment about his patients. Please, do not put yourself or your children through this pain and suffering. I did not have a fear of doctors or dentists or pain going into this, and what should have been a standard tooth extraction turned into the most traumatic event of my life.
