I am a ultrasound tech and my husband is a patient. I did an unoffical ultrasound of my husband as her has a strong family history of thyroid cancer and I was being proactive looking at his thyroid.He saw the nurse practitioners and asked them for a ultrasound as he has a VERY STRONG family history of thyroid cancer (which should immediately prompt further testing), they refused to order a simple non invasive ultrasound. He pushed for script and after basically begging them to order. I did a offical ultrasound and documented multiple nodules on his right and a 1.3 cm nodule on his left, that I knew immediately did not look good. Long story, he had a biopsy and had his thyroid removed, along with 2 lymph nodes that already had papillary cancer in them. He went for pre op with Dr Kazdan and he asked him why I looked at his thyroid, well I am a proactive wife who loves her husband and obviously I can not rely or have any faith in Dr Kazdan and his staff enough to listen to their patients!!! Please be proactive when it comes to your life and be sure to speak to a family memeber in healthcare and find a Dr who will listen instead of brush you off.
