I have seen three different dermatologists - the first for many years, the second only once as she spent 0 time with me yet gave me 6 prescriptions, and Dr. Stewart Altmayer. I prefer female doctors, but I took a chance on Dr. Altmayer because I couldn't find a good dermatologist in the area. Dr. Altmayer spends a good amount of time with me each time I come in for an appointment, I never feel like I am customer who needs to be dealt with swiftly so that he can move on to the next.... Instead, I really do feel like a patient who is engaged in treatment and knowledgeable about my diagnosis because he takes the time to explain and ask questions about my history with acne and other conditions. He will not just throw prescriptions at you and usher you out of the door.

He also is very thorough and thinks outside of the box - doing blood work and gathering information to determine any underlying causes to my condition. This sounds pretty straightforward, but you would be surprised that he is the first dermatologist to ever order labs for me.

If you are looking for a trustworthy doctor who will actually spend more than 5 minutes with you, you'd be in good hands with Dr. Altmayer.
