YIKES!
She and her partner Normund Akots appear to be marketing themselves to doctors to help them take their problem patients off of their hands. She does 'Psychological assessments' for a neurologist, Mark Yerby, for when he doesn't want to treat them for a neurological disorder or finds them difficult. Enter Julie Frederick to have you look at inkblots and check some boxes - voila, you're nuts!
That won't be hard, since you are there being evaluated for seizures and confined to a hospital bed and deliberately sleep deprived. Hmmm... Doing a full psychological assessment and IQ test when a person hasn't slept in two days? This person is clearly not normal Hmm... this person is confined to a hospital bed under video surveillance, has blood drawn hourly and things glued all over your head, with staff the come in and grouch at her when she moves or gets out of bed without permission... wow, she must be nuts! It is amazing that people get paid for this, actually it is amazing it is legal.
Actually, I refused the psych assessment because she had me sign something saying I would pay if my insurance wouldn't and they didn't even do me the courtesy of warning me ahead of time. Dr Yerby didn't tell me at all what this experience would be like, no one mentioned that I wouldn't be allowed to leave, or even leave my bed, or that I would be required to pay 200 dollars for this woman to ask me if I hear voices or feel that my refrigerator is out to get me.
But refusing the psych assessment from Julie Frederick basically ended my chances of being fairly evaluated by my neurologist, since basically all he wanted to talk about is how difficult I was. Apparently he resented having to come up with his OWN evidence of this, however.
(It was clear that he was determined to do this, and Dr. Frederick was just a hired gun to say I was crazy, because his diagnosis said that because my episodes showed 'some kind of cycles' therefore they must have been a mood disorder. Excuse me, Dr. Yerby, but everything that is episodic has some kind of cycles, a mood disorder must involve MOODS CYCLING. It is amazing that ten years of post graduate education buys an opinion as sophisticated as 'some kind of cycles.')
But this woman is huffy, haughty, cold snooty, elitist, and the strange thing is I am not sure why in the world she would be any of these things. She obviously is NOT A THINKER, if you get my drift.
I don't know what they teach people at U of Wyoming or wherever she was educated, but basically she and her partner get referred people from doctors and basically look puzzled, hmm and haw until the fifty minutes is over, and if their patients ask them what in the world it is all for, their strategy is to say "well, we can talk about that," or "well, let's look at that." Even if you have already talked about it so much that if you weren't crazy when you started, you will be eventually.
But all that you need to know about Julie Frederick is her message on her voice mail. SHE SINGS HER NAME. I am not joking. I am a linguist and it is the first time I have ever seen this. THIS is JUUUUUUUUUUUU lie FRED rick.
As I said, if you need this woman to help you act normal, then I would say the cure is worse than the disease. Not that they will offer you a diagnosis of that disease.
