About
Deborah Buckwalter, Ph.D.
Professional Approach: As humans, we are frequently challenged with the need to adjust-- to unforeseen challenges such as loss, injury, and illness, or to the more predictable but still difficult pressures of everyday life. At times adjustment is needed in conjunction with transitions such as graduation, job change, divorce, empty nest, retirement, or spiritual exploration.
As a psychologist, it is my responsibility and privilege to come alongside adults who are struggling with specific challenges, and provide treatment that will assist them with coping, problem-solving, and adjustment so that life can be lived as fully and genuinely as possible.
Treatment begins with a thorough assessment of your specific needs and the ways you (or others) may be impacted by your circumstances. Treatment proceeds as a joint commitment to actively address the issues, taking into account the whole person you are- physical, social, interpersonal, mental/cognitive, and spiritual/philosophical.
I have a strong general practice. I also specialize in neuropsychological & psychological evaluation as well as in treating psychological effects of trauma, injury, and illness. I am knowledgeable about brain functioning in brain injury, stroke, MS, dementias, and Parkinsons disease. In addition, I provide assessment related to surgical readiness, personality, disability, and desire for personal insight.
