i went to dr mallette for a root canal in 1996. he filled the canal with a silverpoint and broke off a dental tool in my canal and did not remove it. i did not know this at the time and had severe problems with this tooth over the next 15 years until i finally had a quality dentist diagnose it and retreat it. any dentist who uses silverpoints is an idiot and if i could talk to mallette face to face i would give him a good barkin' for all the pain he inflicted on me with his substandard work. don't go to this man for anything other than a cavity as this, and other nightmarish episodes, have convinced me that MOST dentists do not know what they are doing when it comes to root canals.
