POPULAR PALM BEACH COUNTY FLORIDA DENTIST PROVIDES A FREE DAY OF DENTAL SERVICES FOR HIS COMMUNITY

July 18, 2009 -- dentist, Dr. Michael Savoia, is offering a day of free dental service for the needy. Along with five other Palm Beach County dental professionals, Savoia will provide free fillings, extractions or dental cleanings, Saturday, June 6, in Palm Beach Gardens, on a first-come basis.

Savoia and his fellow dentists, Dr. Lawrence Grayhills, of Wellington; Dr. Ellen Vargas, Jupiter; Dr. Paul Donatelli, West Palm Beach; and Martha Sua, a Palm Beach Gardens registered dental hygienist, are joining together with "Dentistry From The Heart," a leading, free, non-profit dental care program that offers an entire day of free dental care to anyone truly in need once a year.

"I started reading about the "Dentistry From The Heart" program on the Internet," says Savoia, a Jupiter resident who has practiced in his PBG Smiles, Implant Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry office for 19 years. "I realized how much I agreed with Dr. Vincent Monticciolo, who founded the non-profit organization in 2001, about 'wanting to give something back to the community he lives in.' That is my motivation also, so I called on several dentists who feel the same way and here we are, doing a day of free dental service for needy patients, under the auspices of Dr. Monticciolo's wonderful organization, Dentistry From The Heart."

The free dental service day will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Savoia's office, 11380 Prosperity Farms Road, (#115B) in the Prosperity Gardens Plaza.

Patients must call the office at (561) 775-0373, to make an appointment for a time slot on Saturday, June 6 and should be prepared to answer a few qualifying questions, to determine financial eligibility.

"Time slots for all our doctors are quickly filling up," Savoia said, "since the word got out. So I'm advising everyone to call right away. Even if it's just to be on a waiting list."

Dentistry From The Heart, founded in Tampa, by Monticciolo, has expanded its free day of dentistry events to more than 50 locations across 29 states in the U.S. In 2008, the national no-profit organization doubled its efforts by enlisting hundreds of volunteers who donated more than $1.5 million dollars in dental services provided to 5,500 Americans who are desperately in need of dental care, especially during this current economic meltdown.

After realizing the potential impact DFTH could make across the country, Monticciolo registered DFTH as a national non-profit organization and created all the tools needed for dental practices to host DFTH events in their communities.

Savoia, a D.D.S. graduate from Georgetown University, is devoted to preventive dentistry and uses conservative, state-of-the-art procedures. His team-approach in his PBG Smiles office provides dental implants, snoring and Sleep Apnea treatment, cleanings and prevention, periodontal disease treatment, cosmetic and restorative services that result in beautiful, healthy and long lasting smiles.

What I wouldn't give to be a part of that community! I sure wouldn't mind some free work from my own Cambridge dentists. How exactly was he able to do that for an entire community? I definitely agree with his ideas about preventative dentistry. My nephew could use some of that right now.
