Alkalize or Die

A couple of months ago I read the book Alkalize or Die by Dr Theodore A. Baroody and it opened my eyes to how important it was to keep the alkaline levels higher in the body than most of us do.

While at Living Valley Springs Retreat they also gave lessons on this essential component of health in the body and explained that :
when body is acid low energy, poor metabolism and healing
when body is alkaline then more energy and greater healing

I liked the comparison of comparing acid in the body to rusting and the breakdown slowly of the cells, joints and premature aging.

Our modern day diets are very acidic and this leads to most breakdowns in the health of our bodies.

I discovered how chemical, dietary, physical , psychological and spiritual factors effect our alkaline/acid balances.
When the body has a bank of alkaline to call on it can handle and neutralize acid when required.

With more knowledge it all starts to make sense as to why we are told to do certain things for better health:
Drinking water which is essential in assisting the body to move the acid out of the body
Breathing deep and lots of fresh air are also essential in moving the acid.

Acid cells are more likely to become diseased in comparison to Alkaline cells that are healthy.

The Body is designed to win so if something doesn't work the body will kick in and adjust by stealing from somewhere in the body to compensate and then eventually that causes a problem.

If we continue to drink coffee, drink soft drinks, eat lots of fruit, no exercise, no sun then the body will compensate by looking for alkaline to neutralize and the most alkaline part of the body is the bones, so it pulls out the phosphate which over time will lead to bone de-generation.
This phosphate has calcium attached which causes a whole other range of problems in the body.
If you are serious about getting healthy then this is an area of learning that is essential and I recommend as essential on any journey to wellness.

Some hints on keeping the alkaline to the right levels that I have incorporated into my diet:
Eat 80/20 alkaline diet cut down on grains -all acidic Have lemon/lime in diet
Green leafy vegetables
Green apples/Apple cider vinegar organic less processed foods
Cultured foods-yoghurt/soft cheeses
This is all so simple and yet we are not really taught it in our health care and we take ant-acids and other medications to fix something so simple as diet changes.

I have really taken on nutrition as one of the most essential parts in building a new model of health for myself and I have seen changes in my health already with more energy, less sore parts and a loss of 5 kilos.
This has really assisted me in Journey to my Wellness.
