Grant Hilary Brenner, MD, is a psychiatrist trained at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and a graduate of the Certificate Program in Psychoanalysis and the Organization Program of the William Alanson White Institute. Dr. Brenner is in practice near Union Square, and offers transcranial magnetic stimulation alongside his private practice. In addition to a broad range of clinical interests, he specializes in working with trauma and dissociation, in office-based practice and in the field. He has written and lectured about multiple topics relating to trauma, collaboration, and social justice, and presents on related subjects. His psychoanalytic interests include how technology and culture shape identity, understanding psychoanalysis through the lens of complexity theory, the relationship between spirituality and mental health in disasters, how to work with younger generations more effectively, and how radically collaborative approaches may allow for more effective treatment. He is co-editor and an author in the recently published volume Creating Spiritual and Psychological Resilience: Integrating Care in Disaster Relief Work, and teaches, supervises and facilitates groups at various institutions, in addition to other activities. He is Director of the Trauma Service and Chief Psychiatric Consultant to the Clinic for the William Alanson White Institute, and is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Beth Israel Medical Center, and the Mount Sinai School of Medicine (adjunct).
