Samuel Rice, M.D.

Interests: My practice interests are centered around sports medicine, in particular shoulder, elbow, wrist, and knee problems. I specialize in arthroscopic treatment.

I have had the pleasure of being the orthopaedic consultant to the High Desert Mavericks since the team’s arrival in 1991. This experience has given me a chance to learn about the treatment of the injuries related to this sport and in particular injuries of the throwing shoulder and elbow. I enjoy passing on to local athletes what I have learned about treatment and more importantly prevention of these injuries.

My other interest is cutting horses, a unique group of individuals in the equine performance group. These are elite equine athletes and have also taught me a lot about training of human athletes. In addition they are just a blast to ride.

I enjoy golf and understand the passion many have for this game. Helping a player return to this great game is very satisfying to me.
