When working with couples and families I take an intergenerational approach that views the family as an emotional unit and is used to understanding the nature of family members and their intense emotional connections with one another throughout the generations.
My goal for treatment is to treat the root of the problem.
As people work on core issues their symptoms often drop away.
As a therapist my goal is to approach each person, family or group from a family systems perspective; to remain differentiated and outside the emotional confusion yet accessible to and learning more about the family so that I can help guide them as they find their path toward change.
