Dr. Mei received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree followed by a Specialty Certificate in Orthodontics from Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Mei's motivation and enthusiasm in dentistry and orthodontics led her to be one of the very few dentists to attend and complete an accelerated combined undergraduate/D.D.S. program studying at both Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry and University of Missouri at Kansas City where she also received an academic scholarship. During her studies at Virginia Commonwealth University, Dr. Mei received multiple achievements and awards including the A.D. Williams Scholarship award. Dr. Mei has been treating children and adults in the specialty of orthodontics since 1995 and formed Dominion Orthodontics in 2007.
Dr. Mei currently serves on the board of the VCU/Medical College of Virginia Orthodontic Education and Research Foundation and is a member on the admissions committee for the VCU Orthodontic Residency Program. Dr. Mei is a part-time faculty professor at Virginia Commonwealth University Department of Orthodontics. Dr. Mei is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Richmond Dental Society, American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, Virginia Association of Orthodontists, and the VCU/Medical Collage of Virginia Orthodontic Alumni Association.
On a personal note, Dr. Mei enjoys spending time with her family. She enjoys cooking, swimming, playing tennis & gourmet cooking (and eating). She also has achieved a rank of third degree Black Belt in tae kwon do martial arts.
