Everything I look at turns into a designer color scheme for me. As I thumb through Southern Living or a Better Homes and Garden magazine, I see color groupings. It’s come to the point where I rarely read the articles. I tear out the pictures and start putting together color schemes from them. For example, one day while flipping through a magazine I saw a photograph of a delicious pizza. Did I get hungry? No. I grabbed my paint fan deck and starting matching up the pepperoni with an amazing burgundy, the cheese was a great, crisp shade of gold and the baked crust was a terrific blend of tans and browns that are so popular today.
I have a highly customized business. After meeting with my client, looking at their home and really listening to what they want and need, I develop a customized color scheme that will suit their home and only their home. I never duplicate a color scheme. Each client gets a one of a kind, designer color scheme.
When I’m invited into a home to choose colors, I feel so connected with the family. I’ve witnessed birthday celebrations, visits from Grandparents, been told emotional stories of loved pets that have passed, been shown infants as they lay sleeping during nap time, listened to stories about hobbies from bird watching to guitar playing and have even invited me back into some homes for dinner. Even though I am in their home for such a short time, the impact and personal connection that takes place when I get together with my “client family” is incredible. I don’t know why or even try to understand how it happens but I am very grateful for all the clients I have – past, present and future. They are a part of me and I become part of them. Hopefully when they look at their color on the walls of their home, they too will remember me!
