I was born and raised in Shelby Township, the second oldest of four children, and only son to Ronald and Barbara Swain. My youngest sister, Katie, was born with cerebral palsy. For this reason – among others - my parents took our family on regular trips to the chiropractor to receive adjustments. After watching how Katie responded to this care, I was able see first hand the many advantages chiropractic care had to offer individuals with disabilities.
Growing up, I was involved in many groups within the community. One group that I was most proud of being associated with was the Boy Scouts of America, where I earned the highest award of an Eagle Scout. I was also involved in my local church’s youth group and swam for the Eisenhower High School swim team throughout my high school career.
After graduation, I worked as rough carpenter full time, while attending college in the evenings. After injuring myself on the job, I realized once more how powerful and beneficial chiropractic really was in its approach to natural healing. Shortly after that injury, I attended my first seminar presented by Life University and realized that everything that was presented to me that evening related to how I was already living my life. Two months later, I made the decision to move down to Marietta, Georgia to begin my education as a doctor of chiropractic. I remained at Life University until January 2005, before returning home to Michigan. Later that spring, I received my degree in chiropractic after completing my final board assessments.
My internship was completed at Rumph Chiropractic Clinic in Waterford. Through this position, I learned what it takes be become a successful doctor, business owner, and member of the community.
