Katherine McCommon began practicing yoga in 1997 and found yoga to be a source of support and strength when her mother was diagnosed with cancer. Katherine
had the opportunity to see the physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits as her mother was healed from her illness. While pursuing a Bachelor's Degree at LeTourneau University, her practice blossomed to include teaching. Katherine completed qualified training with YogaFit Training Systems Worldwide in Yoga Fit's Levels 1-3, Yoga Butt, and YogaFit's Seniors. Katherine has studied yoga from Judith Lasater, Ph.D, P.T. ,Beth Shaw , Melanie Fawer, Deanna Anderson, and Rose Zahnn. Katherine continues to be an avid student of several teachers in the Hatha (physical) and Bhakti (devotional) traditions. Her mindful and playful teaching style draws from an eclectic background in order to make the poses available to a wide variety of practitioners. She has shared yoga with a variety of yogis in the East Texas area. In 2004, Katherine spent a year developing a yoga & meditation program for Physical Impact Gym & Fitness in Longview. Then, in 2005, moved to Longview Yoga Studio to share instructor responsiblities and help support Longview's first premier yoga studio. Recently, in Jan 2008, Katherine joined the teaching staff at Barefoot Fitness: Women's Yoga and Wellness Center in Longview.
