Dr. Jaquel Patterson is a Naturopathic Doctor who completed her medical studies at University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine (University of Bridgeport is a four-year, accredited, graduate level naturopathic medical school educated in all basic sciences, in addition to clinical nutrition, acupuncture, botanical medicine, homeopathy, counseling, and physical medicine). As part of her training, Dr. Jaquel completed many clinical hours, accumulating to over 1200 hours, as part of her naturopathic training at UB where she met with patients individually to assess their health care needs.
Dr. Jaquel received her undergraduate degree from Cornell University in Applied Economics and Management, with a focus on Food Industry Management. Her initial major of plant sciences at Cornell was due to her interest in the field of alternative medicine, but with a lack of clarity regarding its integration in the traditional medical model and knowledge about the field of naturopathic medicine, she decided to change her major. Upon graduating from Cornell and learning more about this field, she decided to pursue her true passion in alternative and preventative medicine by returning to school after working for a few years within the realm of marketing and business analytics in the food industry.
Dr. Jaquel has a breadth of experience in both the clinical and research realm. She has experience working with community and public health initiatives, and believes this is an area where the expertise of naturopathic medicine is extremely effective and produces amazing results. Dr. Jaquel currently works full time in a leadership and managerial capacity at Morris Heights Health Center, a federally-qualified health center in Bronx, NY that serves more than 48,000 residents per year with over 200,000 visits annually. At MHHC, Dr. Jaquel works on clinical quality initiatives, and the implementation of wellness and prevention throughout its thirteen locations. Dr. Jaquel also has consulting experience regarding health related issues in CT and NY, and research experience as an associate at Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center. With solid experience working with the health susceptibilities of minority populations and being of mixed heritage herself, Dr. Jaquel provides a unique perspective and skill set in understanding and addressing their particular needs.
Dr. Jaquel has received additional training in European homeopathic medicine and has studied with Dr. Gerard Gueniot, the world’s leading physician in biotherapeutic drainage. Her training in European homeopathic medicine provides her with a larger scope of experience and understanding in homeopathy and constitutional assessment.
Dr. Jaquel currently serves as a National Board Director for Sickle Cell Disease Association of America (SCDAA), and serves as the Program Chair for SCDAA. She served on the NAACP Executive Committee as the Health Chair for Greater Bridgeport, CT. She is an active member of the New York Association of Naturopathic Physicians and the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians. Dr. Jaquel received the only 2008 Service Leadership Award from University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine for her exceptional leadership and contribution to the UB community. She maintains her licensure in naturopathic medicine in the state of CT.
