Dr Patney has been practicing Orthopedics for the last 12 years. His first practice was in Pennsylvania where he cared for patients for 5 years. Subsequently he was recruited to the University of Florida/Jacksonville where he has practiced for the last 6 years. He is the former Chief of Adult Reconstruction at the University of Florida/Jacksonville. During his time in Jacksonville he developed a thriving practice in Adult reconstruction with emphasis on complex reconstructive surgery. Dr Patney has been a pioneer in the field of total joint arthroplasty and was one of the first surgeons in North Florida to offer large head metal on metal hip replacement. He is FDA certified to perform the Oxford partial knee replacement as well as the Birmingham hip resurfacing. Dr Patney has also participated in the development of several joint implants and continues to work closely with researchers and developers of joint implants. Dr Patney has taught numerous orthopedists during his time at the University of Florida and given a multitude of lectures nationally on joint replacement. He is currently a clinical examiner as well as oral examiner for the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He has also attained the honor of Fellow in the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics.
