As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked in Hampton Roads, Virginia since 1998, I'm successful in helping adults and teens resolve a variety of problems, including anxiety, depression and psychological trauma. My expertise is treating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Most current treatment approaches to psychological trauma and PTSD define success simply as "a reduction in symptoms." My goal, however, is to eliminate trauma symptoms, and I'm generally able to accomplish this in 10-15 counseling sessions.
During my career, I've helped hundreds of individuals who were experiencing psychological trauma and PTSD. My experience includes five years at Naval Station Norfolk's Fleet and Family Services Center (FFSC), where I specialized in trauma counseling for service members and their families. I've also worked extensively with public safety personnel (police, fire fighters and EMTs) and am certified in Virginia as a Critical Incident Stress Debriefer (CISD). In addition to my counseling private practice, I've worked in a variety of settings, including an Employee Assistance Program and a community mental health program, so I'm very familiar with other resources available in our area.
