Esther Mugomba-Bird is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with special interests in areas such as bipolar disorder, paranoid schizophrenia, and other thought disorders, as well as various anxiety disorders and depressive disorders. With 10 years of experience in the field, Esther focuses on fighting the stigma associated with mental illness by encouraging her patients to be open about their illnesses and educating their families, thereby increasing compliance with treatment. She is a firm believer that patients do better when they have the support of their loved ones. Besides patient empowerment, she loves to travel, learn about other cultures, play tennis, box, garden, spend time with loved ones, and give back to the community by volunteering with various organizations. Esther was nominated and voted Mental Health Nurse Practitioner of the Year in 2020 by Gulf Shore Magazine for her exceptional care during COVID-19. She was also awarded the Leadership Award by her colleagues at NCH in 2020.
