When human beings experience trauma or severe life stressors, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. Regina's great passion is helping people who have been through a traumatic or stressful experience find their voice and take charge of their illness through education about their options. Because no one approach works for every person, she helps her clients understand more about their condition and the available modes of treatment including medications and therapy. Regina earned a Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, one of the top ten nursing programs in the country. She is nationally accredited and board certified as Psych Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She has worked in the mental health field for five years. She also has degrees with concentrations in criminal and civil law which helps her understand some of the unusual challenges patients and their families face. She speaks Spanish and has substantial knowledge and experience working with Hispanics and other populations facing barriers to mental health care. She has also worked with children, adolescents and their caregivers; and with adults and geriatric patients both inpatient and outpatient. Finally, Regina is a daughter, sister, wife and mother. She believes it makes it easier to understand the struggles that families are going through and helps her guide the caregivers to better manage mental illness based on their unique perspectives and family dynamics. She heavily focuses on goal setting and gauging outcomes. "I truly want to see my patients live their best life." Her clients describe her as warm, caring, and knowledgeable about not only medicine, but how the world around us works.
