Courtney Overton, MS, CCC-SLP is a nationally certified speech-language pathologist. She is licensed in Virginia and has extensive experience in the public school system at the primary and secondary levels. Courtney is also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Maryland.
Courtney is currently a doctoral student in literacy, culture, and language education at Indiana University with a minor in educational leadership. She earned a master's degree in speech-language pathology at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. Courtney earned a bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology, minor in linguistics, and certificate in American Sign Language at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Courtney regularly attends the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Convention to remain abreast on evidence-based practices in pediatric speech-language pathology. She is also a member of the International Dyslexia Association, International Literacy Association, Fairfax County Speech-Language Pathologists Association, the National Black Association for Speech-Language and Hearing, and the Pearl and Ivy Educational Foundation, Inc. Courtney is trained in Tethered Oral Tissues, Tongue Tips, Thumbs Up!, Story Grammar Marker, Social Thinking, Orton-Gillingham, Reading Mastery, Corrective Reading, Read Well, Language!, Wilson (FUNdations), Qualitative Reading Inventory, Dyslexia Fundamentals, The Logic of English, and Unstuck and On Target. She specializes in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating orofacial myofunctional disorders, articulation disorders, phonological disorders, developmental delays, reading/writing disabilities, language disorders, and social skills. Courtney was recently honored as a 40 Under 40 Recipient by the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce!
