Ashley R. Chandler, M.D.

Dr Chandler found her love for surgery when she was just 11 years old. She accompanied her father , an orthopedic surgeon, for “Daughters to Work Day”. From that point on, she knew that she wanted to touch people lives through medicine and surgery.

She was awarded a full scholarship to attend Florida State University. While at FSU, she worked in a neuroscience research lab studying the affects of estrogen on metabolism. Dr Chandler graduated with honors with a BS in Exercise Physiology and minors in Biology and Chemistry. She continued her academic journey by attending medical school at FSU as well. During her last year of medical school, she found that she truly loved working to help restore women’s bodies and self-confidence after breast cancer.

Dr Chandler graduated at the top of her medical school class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society (reserved for the top 10% of the graduating class). She attended her general surgery internship at Virginia Tech. After her year in Virginia, she was accepted to her six year integrated Plastic Surgery residency in New York. While in New York, she trained under many top plastic surgeons. Ashley has taken the skills learned from each of these surgeons to optimize her operative technique.

To continue her training in breast reconstruction and aesthetics, Dr. Chandler was accepted to a fellowship with one of the top breast plastic surgeons in the country, Dr. Dennis Hammond.

She has used her training to empower women. “My treatment goal is restore confidence whether that be from restoring a woman’s body after childbirth, with breast reconstruction after cancer or with a body contouring procedure after weight loss.”

Dr Chandler is excited to be joining Charlotte Plastic Surgery. She has relocated to the Queen City with her husband Josh and their son Jack. In her time off, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She loves to cook, travel, and enjoys being outside running, walking, sailing or kayaking. During the evening, you can almost always find her walking or running with her family and their dog, Bailey.
