He continued his medical education at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, where he was bestowed the prestigious Heusner Pupil Award by his peers. He completed a five-year residency in Head and Neck Surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was awarded the William Shockley Silver Owl award for excellence in teaching and the Mark C. Weissler Iron Man award for “going above and beyond”.
