David Brendel, MD, PhD is a Harvard trained, Board certified psychiatrist practicing in the Boston area. His psychiatry practice welcomes adults with a wide range of personal issues including depression, mood swings, anxiety, relationship issues, attention deficits, sleep problems, disordered eating, and substance abuse. If you choose to work with him, he will conduct a thorough initial evaluation, establish a diagnosis, and make treatment recommendations. Depending on your individual situation, he may suggest psychotherapy and/or medication treatment with himself and/or other clinicians. His patients come from the Greater Boston area, throughout the United States, and around the world. Dr. Brendel trained at Harvard Medical School and is the author of Healing Psychiatry: Bridging the Science/Humanism Divide (published by the MIT Press).

Dr. Brendel earned his M.D. at Harvard Medical School and a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Chicago. He is an expert in applying cognitive psychology to help clients develop a growth mindset and implement critical behavior changes. His executive coaching clients include leaders in healthcare, biotech, Pharma, higher education, engineering, financial services, insurance, law, and manufacturing. He has vast experience helping leaders to manage stress, develop mindfulness skills, negotiate interpersonal conflict, embrace strategic thinking, and enhance their overall leadership capacity.
He has published extensively in his areas of expertise. He writes frequent blog articles on executive coaching for the Harvard Business Review and Huffington Post. His book, Healing Psychiatry, was published by MIT Press.
