Dr. Gatha specializes in the neuropsychological and psychological evaluation of individuals who have various known or suspected difficulties, such as ADHD, anxiety, autism, developmental and genetic conditions, or learning disabilities. He also has an active psychotherapy practice where he works with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families, to improve anxiety, mood, behavioral difficulties, coping skills, and peer relationships.
Previously he served as postdoctoral fellow in pediatric neuropsychology under Dr. Rafael Castro. During that time, he evaluated approximately 200 children with a wide range of issues.
He obtained his doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from the Lynch School of Education at Boston College in May 2009. His dissertation addressed the intersection of mentoring and parental attachment in school-aged children.
As part of his training, Dr. Gatha completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at the Cambridge Health Alliance where he worked in the Adult and Child/Adolescent Outpatient Psychiatry Departments, and was appointed Clinical Fellow in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.
While studying at Boston College, Dr. Gatha trained for three years at the Brookline Community Mental Health Center where he was closely supervised in dynamically-informed, integrative psychotherapy with a diverse population of children, adolescents, and families.
Dr. Gatha received his Master’s degree in Counseling from Boston University with a specialization in Sport Psychology; shortly thereafter, he began to work for a with high school student-athletes to improve their on- and off-field performances. He received his undergraduate degree in Human Development and Psychology from Boston College.
