I was born in San Diego at the Naval Medical Center, while my dad served 2 years in the Navy before returning to his home town, Reno, NV to set up his dental practice. I grew up in Reno, NV with a very close Italian family. My mother is a Physical Therapist, Grandfather was a Pharmacist. I suppose I was destined for a health-care career! For 8 years I’ve worked part-time in clinical research, after completing a 3 year residency and Chief Residency in Family Medicine. In the research office I have the opportunity to care for a large population of underserved patients who have limited resources and often no insurance. In addition, I get the luxury of spending as much time with them as I want to - which allows me to give the kind of care I’m proud of and not rushed, haphazard care. A few years ago I began looking for more ways that I could practice primary care the way I want to and enjoy my work day more. That is when I began exploring anti-aging and aesthetic medicine. For years I have been a "gym rat" and a relative "health nut" so learning about better health habits, nutrition and exercise is second-nature to me. I also have always enjoyed building projects with my hands at home and stumbled upon aesthetic procedures as an excellent outlet for my perfectionism and desire to do more hands-on things. So that is how my practice, and my career, is developing. I have a strong committment to evidence-based medicine, so I tend to be very cautious and not proceed forward with anything too new until I feel it is safe for my patients to try. I spent two years training in aesthetic medicine with a very prominent dermatologist (sort of a "mini-residency" if you will). I also became board-certified in anti-aging medicine and I am currently completing fellowship training in anti-aging. My hope is that I will continue to build great relationships with my patients that sustain me and at the same time continue to be able to practice medicine in an environment that allows me to spend the time I need to feel good about what I’m doing.
