"Being healthy is more than keeping symptoms at bay," says Erica Song, MD. Dr. Song is a board-certified gynecologist, functional medicine and integrative physician, and holistic health coach. During 14 years of a successful conventional medical practice, she realized that current western medicine is excellent at treating symptoms but does not heal the entire person. With that in mind, she has integrated holistic diagnostic and treatment modalities into her practice. The result? A new model of personalized medical care that focuses on the entire person. Dr. Song's new practice, Vibrant Life Medicine, evokes her new mission.

Dr. Song founded Vibrant Life Medicine for men and women based on the philosophy of integrating the best of conventional medicine with functional, metabolic, regenerative and complementary medicine customized to meet the unique needs of each patient. At the core of this approach is functional medicine that identifies the root causes of symptoms and diseases while emphasizing preventative medicine. She knows "understanding your health issues and concerns, and nutrition and lifestyle habits, forms the foundation for healing."Rather than merely treating symptoms, this holistic approach allows Dr. Song to offer personalized treatment plans.

She recognizes that information is nothing without inspiration, and encourages patients to become active partners in achieving their well-being. She helps men and women achieve and maintain wellness by building on the foundation to health, including proper nutrition, adequate sleep, movement, mind-body stress management, supplements and hormone optimization.

Dr. Song and her multi-disciplinary team of holistic specialists emphasize preventing disease before it starts, with a focus on positive lifestyle modifications. Patient-centered care is the foundation, and patients are not rushed through visits. Unlike traditional doctors' visits, patients can expect to spend 60 to 90 minutes with Dr. Song during an initial consultation.

At Vibrant Life Medicine, as Dr. Song's philosophy and training have evolved so have the health services offered to patients. In addition to gynecologic services, the practice provides functional medicine consultations and wellness programs for men and women, stem cell and platelet-rich plasma therapies, weight management programs, hormone optimization with bio-identical hormones, metabolic detoxification, lifestyle and nutrition counseling,acupuncture, massage, Reiki and mind-body medicine.

Dr. Song is excited to offer stem cell therapies as the first New Jersey affiliate of the Cell Surgical Network. She is involved in investigational regenerative medicine studies that use stem cells in various inflammatory and degenerative conditions, including neurologic, autoimmune, cardiac, pulmonary, orthopedic and urologic conditions.

Dr. Song is a New Jersey native. After growing up in Demarest, she studied art at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and medicine at New York University, graduating with honors. She completed residency at NYU, during which time she won numerous teaching, research and clinical awards. Throughout her years of experience, as well as through undergoing personal and family health struggles, Dr. Song realized there was more to the art of healing than her traditional medical training. As such, she has pursued additional training through the Institute for Functional Medicine, the Metabolic Medical Institute and the Academy for Anti-Aging, Regenerative and Functional Medicine. Dr. Song is also a certified nutritional holistic health coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Dr. Song believes that true healing involves a blend between these multiple philosophies.
