Vision and Eye Health Examinations

Our eyes tell a lot about us, if one knows where to look.  At Opticare we have the honor of helping thousands of people see clearly, without eyestrain, headache, or double vision.  We also identify and treat a variety of eye diseases, sometimes within our clinic, and sometimes in cooperation with other eye doctors.
A thorough eye examination includes measurement of refractive error including myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism, and presbyopia (the need for bifocals or reading glasses).
In addition to measurement of refractive error, the doctors at Opticare will assess how your eyes function.  Eye function assessment looks at how our eyes focus at near and far, how they turn inward and outward to see a single image at all distances, and how they move to accomplish tasks like reading and participating in sports.
As part of every vision and eye health examination, the doctors at Opticare also assess the health of your eyes and visual system.  We check for conditions like cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and retinal detachment.  We also look carefully for eye problems related to other diseases you may have.

Contact Lens Services

Our patients are pleased with the contact lens services they receive from us.  They like that they can see clearly and that they are comfortable to wear.  They like that they can get their contact lenses the day of their examination in most cases.
To achieve outcomes like these, the doctors at Opticare take careful measurements of the curvature of your eyes for a proper contact lens fit.  We carefully calculate what power of contact lens is appropriate, knowing that it is often not the same as your eyeglass prescription.  We take into account your work demands and hobbies.  We consider any special requirements you may have for high oxygen transmission through a lens or high deposit resistance in a lens material, due to the unique condition of your eye health.  We teach you the proper techniques for insertion, removal, and storage of your contact lenses when they are not in your eyes.  And we evaluate the fit of the lenses on your eyes, monitoring for any sign of complication related to wearing contact lenses.

No matter how accurately the prescription is measured and ground into the lenses of your eyewear, the final alignment at the time you receive your new eyewear is critical to their performance.  And if your eyeglasses ever get knocked out of alignment or are otherwise damaged, it takes great skill to put them back as they should be.  Go ahead—put us to the test. Management of Eye Diseases

The doctors at Opticare participate in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases including eye infections, glaucoma, cataract, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, epiretinal membrane, and many others.  We diagnose and treat a variety of eye injuries including retinal detachment, corneal abrasions, and the removal of material lodged in the eyelids and on the surface of the eye.  We also participate in the diagnosis and treatment of the ocular complications of diabetes, hypertension, and other systemic diseases.  These services are performed within our clinic and by other doctors with whom we partner.
