Lee Pravder MD is the Worst

Lee Pravder was the worst psychiatrist I ever had. I usually have a very good read on people and I didn't like him from the start, but as I was a minor at the time, I didn't get much say in who I saw. I didn't have more than 10 visits with Dr. Pravder and while his office was comfortable, is that really what matters in a psychiatrist? I haven't seen Dr. Pravder in years, but I will never forget our last conversation. You see I had been reffered to a psychiatrist after it was recommended I start antidepressants as a child after my father's death. Below is the last encounter I had with Dr. Pravder.
Dr: "When is the last time you saw your father"
Confused, and as my mother had started dating again, I replied: "My biological father?"
Dr: "Yes"
Me: "About __ years ago"
Dr: "Has he made an attempt to contact you since then?"
Me: "You know my dad is dead, right?"
An incredibly awkward silence followed, followed by a flipping of pages of my file by Pravder.
Dr: "Sorry, it's been a long day"

This happened years ago, and I am still scarred by it. How could a doctor forget why a patient was there to see them? After this encounter, I refused to go back. That was not a mistake I was willing to forgive. Pravder was the most out-of-touch doctor I was ever a patient of. I recommend you seek treatment elsewhere-- anywhere else.

I didn't have to wait at all after I arrived for my appointment. They were running right on time, which is a really big deal for me. They are always prepared for my appointment and remember everything about me. I will absolutely return. I had an amazing experience, and they were by far the best I've ever seen.

Dr. Pravder is an extraordinary physician. Clinically, he is the most informed psychopharmacologist I have seen in 30 years. Professionally, he is empathic and never aloof toward his patients. I would not recommend him for "talk therapy" but if one is in need of serious chemical balancing, he is simply the best.
