Getting Phakic IOLs (lens implants) at Durrie Vision was easily one of the best decisions I've ever made. I've worn contacts/glasses for over 25 years and have wanted to get eye surgery for years. I've always been hesitant because the thought of having surgery on my eyes, the things that allow me to freely navigate the world, was a little unsettling. Having fussed with contacts for the majority of those 25 years, I was finally ready to seriously entertain the thought of surgery. I decided to do my research and Durrie Vision appeared to be at the top of their field so I called and made an appointment. With my eyesight being as bad as it is (think Coke bottle glasses) I was not a candidate for LASIK, but Phakic IOL was the way to go for me. To put it simply, this is like taking contact lenses and implanting them within my eyes. Although I was still a bit nervous about the idea of this, Durrie Vision's professional, friendly, and knowledgeable staff and my consultation with Dr. Jason Brinton put me at ease and convinced me that this was the right choice for me. There were several different visits for different reasons, one to take measurements, different surgery dates for each eye, and post-op follow-ups for each eye. Although this may seem like a lot, there is good reason for this and Durrie Vision's staff including Dr. Brinton did an excellent job of explaining the process, the reason for each visit, and the reason for their approach to this which was wonderful. I'm one that likes to understand “why” rather than just accept what I'm told with no backing reason. Durrie Vision's approach to making sure I understood "why" was great for helping me to be more comfortable with this surgery. I cannot say enough positive things about Durrie Vision and their wonderful, polite, and professional staff. I'm now a couple of months out from surgery and I'm seeing 20/20 at distance and 20/15 at reading distance. It has been completely amazing to go to bed without messing with contacts, to wake up and not have to mess with contacts, and to have a breeze outside and not have to worry about dust blowing into my eyes sending them into a watery mess. Having worn glasses and contacts for so many years, even now I sometimes reach for my glasses when climbing into bed at night, just to smile when I realize I'm not wearing glasses. I can just see!!! Thank you Dr. Brinton and all of the wonderful folks at Durrie Vision for everything! You've changed my life!
