My sister's rat got a tumor about two years ago. We visited this vet office because our normal vet did not do "pocket pets" and we were very impressed by the care of the rat. They removed the tumor for $50 (other vets were asking $150 or more) even though they said she would only live a few more months. It was worth it, because she ended up living another year before they grew again.
After an upsetting visit with our original vet when we decided it was time to put the rat to sleep, we took her to Wendell's instead, and they were willing to do the injection with my mom present, which was a huge relief. This is now the only place I will take my own pet rats.

Yes! He/she took a personal call right in front of me. I found it to be incredibly rude.

We have been going to the Wendell Veterinary Clinic since 1988 or so with five cats in all. Two of them were adopted from the practice which seems to have a sideline in finding homes for animals lost or abandoned or with sad stories such as the cat we just adopted because her owner went into a nursing home. When we took this 3 year old tiger, the staff made sure we knew we could return her if for any reason. They all spontaneously came to say goodbye to the cat. It was just very honest and very touching.

This attitude starts at the top with Dr. Johnson who genuinely cares about every animal he sees. It's a caring and conscientious practice that I recommend unreservedly.
