They either didn't read my information or didn't pay any attention to it. Even though they had my information right in front of them, I kept having to explain it to them and remind them why I was there. I can tell it is maybe not a top priority to maintain a professional appearance here. They didn't look terrible, but there is definitely lots of room for improvement. There are times when I've been there, that I feel like they're favoring certain clients. It's not all the time, but I don't appreciate it when it happens. They didn't seem too happy to be helping me. Maybe they were just having a bad day, but they could have been nicer.

First, let me say that I am not affiliated with with Christian Care Home. I only became aware of them two weeks ago prior to my best friend being admitted as a new resident. I have never liked nursing homes or skilled care facilities because many of those I have visited often greeted me with a foul odor when I entered the premises. The other facilities I visited in the past seem rather drab and dreary.

To my surprise, Christian Care Home is a very clean facility. During my visit October 6-8, 2009, I was very satisfied at the level of care I observed being given to my friend and the other residents. Many of the residents had special needs that required them to be in such a facility, but you could tell that the staff gives a high quality of care to each person. You could tell from the conversations between the residents and staff that the staff knew each person's needs, but more importantly, the staff acknowledged each resident as individuals.

The administration was very attentive and knowledgeable about my friend's situation. The administrators and directors I talked with were very professional, attentive to my friend's needs, but most importantly, they listened to my concerns. I feel that my friend is in a very good environment that can provide him with the level of care he needs in a clean environment.

The facility is safe, as I did have employees stop me and question me about who I was, who was I going to see or where was I going. There is a main entrance secured door system. The facility is a little old (mid 1970's decor), but it is VERY CLEAN. There is a dining facility on the main floor where residents are able to go have meals instead of having meals brought to their floor. The dining hall also has a big plasma TV with cable/satellite service. It appears that cable is not available on the other TV's on the upper floors. The one TV I saw on the fourth floor was an analog 19 inch with a HDTV converter box connected to it to get free over the air broadcast signals, and the TV had a clear picture. There are activities to keep residents engaged such as cooking clubs, fishing outings and other activities.

Although this facility is old, GOOD NEWS...a new facility is being constructed right behind the existing building. It should be completed in the next year or two.

I rate this facility as excellent. I am very happy that my friend is a resident at Christian Care Home because I know he is receiving the level of care he needs and deserves. I feel that I need to let other people know about my experience, because I often turn to the internet to find reviews about places or products and want to know how someone else fared. As I stated earlier, I am not affiliated with Christian Care Home in anyway.

I do not hesitate in recommending Christian Care Home to you if you are looking for a clean, safe, responsible facility for your loved one to reside at. As I stated at the beginning, I never liked nursing homes because of all the negative stereotypes I may have about these type of facilities, but none of those, in my opinion, apply at Christian Care Home.

Oh..by the way...Google Maps has the location all screwed up. DO NOT USE THE PROVIDED GOOGLE MAP FROM INTERNET SEARCH. Otherwise it will take you to the Knights of Columbus Hall at 800 Chambers Rd in Bellefountain Neighbors 63137, rather than Christian Care Home 800 Chambers Rd in Ferguson (3blocks west of West Florissant on Chambers Rd). Go to Google maps and put in Christian Care Home, 800 Chambers Rd, Ferguson, MO 63135. This is the correct direction to the home. I hope this helps you in deciding where to place your loved one.
